Recently, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council jointly issued a Guideline on Further Addressing Population Aging in the New Era.
According to the Guideline, all regions should support sub-districts and communities to provide places for the elderly to organize and carry out cultural and sports activities by making full use of resources such as vacant houses, parks, and shopping malls.
All regions are required to implement laws, regulations, standards, and norms for the construction of a barrier-free environment. The construction of a barrier-free environment and senior-friendly improvement should be included in the urban renewal, the renovation of old urban residential communities, the renovation of dilapidated rural houses, and the improvement of the rural living environment, so as to make it safer and more convenient for the elderly to participate in social activities.
While encouraging the promotion of new technologies and modes, all regions should maintain traditional service modes familiar to the elderly, and step up the senior-friendly transformation of the Internet application, mobile terminals, and APPs commonly used by the elderly.
