The Standing Committee of the People's Congress of Changchun City, Jilin Province adopted the newly revised Regulation on the Administration of Geographical Names of Changchun earlier this week, which is scheduled to go into effect as of June 1.

The Regulation detail the relevant laws and regulations of the state and Jilin Province, and make explicit provisions on problems frequently reported by citizens, such as multiple names for one place, nonstandard setting of landmarks and unapproved setting of house numbers. It should be noted that the Regulation prohibit the practice of paid naming.
