The China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC) recently released the Opinions on Strengthening the Protection of Insurance Consumers' Rights and Interests.
The Opinions aim to strengthen insurance companies' responsibilities, enhance information disclosure, punish infringements upon consumers' rights and interests, and improve consumer protection mechanisms. In addition, the Opinions provide for the role of relevant authorities and social organizations, a coordination mechanism between insurance regulatory authorities, the judiciary, the administrative departments and relevant social groups, and supervision by the press and the public.
