| 1. The Chief Executive shall be elected in accordance with this Law by an Election Committee which is broadly representative, suited to the actual situation of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), and represents the overall interests of society, and shall be appointed by the Central People's Government. | | 一、行政长官由一个具有广泛代表性、符合香港特别行政区实际情况、体现社会整体利益的选举委员会根据本法选出，由中央人民政府任命。 |
| 2. The Election Committee shall be composed of 1,500 members from the following sectors: | | 二、选举委员会委员共1500人，由下列各界人士组成： |
| First Sector: Industrial, commercial and financial sectors 300 | | 第一界别：工商、金融界 300人 |
| Second Sector: The professions 300 | | 第二界别：专业界 300人 |
| Third Sector: Grassroots, labour, religious and other sectors 300 | | 第三界别：基层、劳工和宗教等界 300人 |
| Fourth Sector: Members of the Legislative Council, representatives of district organisations and other organisations 300 | | 第四界别：立法会议员、地区组织代表等界 300人 |
| Fifth Sector: HKSAR deputies to the National People's Congress (NPC), HKSAR members of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), and representatives of Hong Kong members of relevant national organisations 300 | | 第五界别：香港特别行政区全国人大代表、香港特别行政区全国政协委员和有关全国性团体香港成员的代表界 300人 |
| Members of the Election Committee must be permanent residents of the HKSAR. | | 选举委员会委员必须由香港特别行政区永久性居民担任。 |
