The Supreme People's Court (SPC) convened an expanded meeting of its Leading Party Members Group on May 23 to specifically review judicial inspection reports, aiming to transform the inspection findings into concrete measures to promote the high-quality development of adjudication work.
Zhang Jun, secretary of the Leading Party Members Group and president of the SPC, presided over the meeting.
In April, judicial inspection teams, led by members of the SPC's Advisory Committee, conducted a new round of inspections at eight high people's courts in Liaoning, Heilongjiang, Fujian, Shandong, Sichuan and Shaanxi provinces, Chongqing municipality and Xizang autonomous region. The inspections focused on identifying problems and putting forward targeted requirements for rectification.
During the meeting, senior SPC officials, based on the reports and findings of the inspection teams, provided explicit feedback on key issues while discussing detailed rectification measures.
It was noted at the meeting that the fundamental purpose of identifying problems through judicial inspections is to help the courts shore up their weaknesses in a focused and systematic manner.
It is important to integrate political orientation with professional proficiency, and promote the continuous enhancement of political integrity, professional competence, and ethical standards, participants at the meeting stressed.
They said that the results of the inspections should be utilized effectively and the issues identified thereof should be used as clues to uncover deep-rooted problems in specific areas, thereby consolidating and expanding the effectiveness of the inspections.
It was emphasized at the meeting that clear and specific requirements for rectification should be provided for the courts under inspection in order to enhance the effectiveness of implementing the decisions and policies made by the Communist Party of China Central Committee and promote the high-quality development of adjudication work.
