Recently, the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) issued the Notice on Implementing the Revised Law of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of Women's Rights and Interests to Effectively Safeguard Women's Rights and Interests. The Notice clarifies that procuratorates at all levels should comprehensively implement the provisions of the newly-revised Law on the Protection of Women's Rights and Interests. To be specific, procuratorates should strengthen the supervision of administrative litigation and administrative non-litigation enforcement cases concerning women's interests and rights, and severely punish criminals infringing on women's health, freedom, and dignity. More judicial aid should be provided to infringed women. To strengthen dispute source governance, the newly-revised law mandates that procuratorates should look into the fundamental cause of women's infringements based on judicial case handling. The Notice also requires that procuratorates at all levels should integrate their procuratorial functions and formulate tough measures to secure the implementation of mandatory requirements. Procuratorates should also deepen their collaboration with other organizations and institutions to jointly promote the establishment of a working mechanism for the protection of women's rights and interests featuring government domination, collaboration among all parties, and public participation.
