The All-China Federation of Trade Unions (ACFTU), the Supreme People's Court (SPC) and the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) have jointly released 10 typical cases of labor law supervision as part of the "one letter, two documents" initiative.
The "one letter, two documents" initiative is a concrete measure taken by the ACFTU to safeguard the interests and rights of labors by issuing reminder letters on labor law supervision as well as documents indicating the position and proposals of trade unions in terms of labor law supervision. The ACFTU issued joint notices with the SPC and the SPP separately on coordinating the implementation of the initiative in February.
The released cases highlight the coordination of courts and procuratorates with trade unions in labor law supervision, providing judicial safeguards for trade unions to protect the legitimate rights and interests of workers.
The cases demonstrate the three agencies' joint efforts to address issues such as delayed payment of wages and disability allowances for migrant workers, sanitation workers and employees with work-related injuries.
The cases also showcase judicial endeavors to fulfill regulatory responsibilities in occupational disease prevention and ensure the rights of outdoor workers to heat subsidies and of delivery workers to work-related injury insurance.
Trade unions, courts and procuratorates at all levels are urged to strengthen their sense of responsibility and deepen their understanding of the importance of safeguarding the rights and interests of workers in accordance with the law. They are called on to draw the lessons from those cases to intensify supervision over and correction of behaviors that infringe upon the legitimate rights and interests of workers, effectively safeguarding them for a vast number of workers.
